11 questions for Odysseys of a Nomad…
Recently, I got nominated for the Liebster Award and I’m very happy to take part in this initiative!
What is the Liebster Award?
It’s an invention to help making lesser known blogs more popular. The award is given from blogger to blogger. All you have to do is answer 11 questions the previous blogger has asked and pass the award on to your nominees together with new questions.
Thank you Steffi of Steffistraumzeit for the nomination!
Here are my answers to your 11 questions:
What is your favorite song?
That largely depends on my mood! In connection with traveling I have many favorite songs that remind my on special moments on the road. The first one that came to my mind now was ‘Music’ by Madonna. We listened to it many, many times during a road trip along the US west coast in 2002. Long time ago, but always when I hear that song it feels like it was yesterday that I was sitting in a mini van together with 15 other people I just met few days before and everyone singing this song while riding on the long, deserted roads of southern California and Arizona… I connect unforgettable memories with this trip which was one of the highlights of my year as an AuPair in the United States.
What 3 things would you take with you on a lonely island?
My boyfriend, my camera, a hammock
What is the most exotic thing you ever ate?
A fried scorpion in the streets of Bangkok – I was very disappointed by the taste. Actually, the only thing what I tasted was the fried fat crust around it.
If you could travel with one famous person (no matter if dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Charles Darwin – because I’m a Biologist
To where would you travel with this person?
What was your most terrible night while traveling?
Usually I sleep very well when traveling but I remember one night in a 20 (or even more?) bed dorm in a hostel in London where I didn’t get any sleep at all from all the snoring (men) around me. Not even ear plugs helped which I always carry around with me. The lesson I learned from that night was to not choose dorms with more than 10 beds any more and preferably only share with women 😉
What is your personal motivational trick when you are having an off-time?
Good question! I wished I could say now meditation or Yoga or something like that but I never tried any of them and I’m still trying to figure out what’s the best thing for me to overcome off-times. My dad always told us: no matter what you do just never give up! I like to remember his words when I’m getting tired of something…
Can you describe your blog and what it means to you in 3 sentences?
On Odysseys of a Nomad I would like to share my travel experiences, give tips and insights for short and long-term traveling and hopefully inspire many people to just quit their jobs and discover the world – at least for a while if not forever. Cause that’s what we did – my boyfriend and me – last year in November: quit our jobs and buy a one-way ticket to Thailand. Not one second did I regret this decision. The blog means a lot to me and I’m very happy (and also a little proud) that more than one year after I took part in the Blog Camp in Berlin I finally managed to launch it.
Do you miss something from home when you are traveling? What is it?
I can easily adapt to new environments, I don’t really miss any material things while traveling. Of course, sometimes I miss my family and friends but thanks to skype that’s easy to over come.
Please complete the following sentence: ‘I never was..’
Many cities and countries would fit to finish this sentence. For example, I never was in Australia but it’s on top of my bucket list.
If you could beam yourself to any possible destination where would that be right now?
Nopparattara Beach in Thailand. There are probably many nicer beaches in this beautiful country but we spend 2 months in Ao Nang and I have many nice memories of this time which I also connect with this beach.
It was not so easy to find other travel blog newbies who just started their blog but did not receive the Liebster Award yet. I decided to not just randomly nominate any blogger but instead only give the award on to a few people whose blogs looked really interesting to me and who agreed to take part in this wonderful online initiative and pass the award on.
I nominate for the Liebster Award:
B-licious by Barbara – because she will leave for a trip around the world soon and will have many interesting stories to tell!
where2gonow by Michaela & Kathrin – because of the stunning pics in their blog posts!
deepertravel by Eva & Robert – because of the volunteer work support!
Be happy and travel by Annie – because she is a stewardess which was also my dream job once!
And here are my 11 questions for my Liebster Award nominees:
- What is your blog about and what is your overall goal with it?
- What is inspiring you?
- What is your favorite picture you took during the last year?
- What was an event on your travels that you didn’t expect at all?
